Cover crops are plants grown primarily for the functions they provide to the landscape — protecting soil, capturing sunlight, producing roots and biomass, feeding microorganisms and supporting biodiversity.
The problem is not disturbance itself — it is disturbance that is excessive, repetitive or leaves insufficient opportunity for recovery. We minimise disturbance wherever practical, but we are not dogmatic about it.
Nature has no concept of waste. Our objective is to keep nutrients circulating within the farm for as long as possible, with animals playing a central role in connecting vegetation back to soil.
